Welcome to the New Westminster Amateur Radio Club
The New Westminster Amateur Radio Club is an organization that was created to promote the exciting hobby of Amateur / Ham radio and emergency communications.
In 1996 the NWARC was formed and is a non-profit society organized to deliver communication services during emergencies. NWARC can provide qualified communications personnel to establish ad-hoc communication links where and when they are needed. NWARC augments the community's existing communication infrastructure, providing the additional capacity that is often needed during emergencies.
Our club is situated in the heart of New Westminster on the grounds of Moody Park, at the Century House. We hold a monthly business meeting from this location. Our club maintains a VHF repeater complete with autopatch at this site. The repeater is located atop a 60' free-standing tower located just outside the century house. We also have HF and UHF capabilities with wire antennas on HF, and a 2-bay array on 440MHz.
This website provides detailed information about the NWARC in New Westminster, British Columbia and is intended to serve both NWARC members, Emergency Social Services (ESS), the City of New Westminster, volunteers, and the public (those who may need NWARC support during an emergency).
Club Objectives
- Maintain the highest level of communication support to the community for a variety of events and in the event their systems fail, to significantly contribute to the overall effectiveness of the community response in a disaster.
- Provide mobile and portable communications systems to link the site(s), reception centres/shelters, RECC, and the EOC.
- Ensure each member is trained to operate the NWARC equipment on site, improve their communication skills, and ability to respond in an emergency.
